Dr. Samad serves as the Ibn-e-Sina Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan. She is the founding Director of the Health Data Science Center at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan and serves as the co-Director of the NIHR Global Health Research Center for IMPACT. She is a practicing cardiologist.

She is a medical graduate of the Aga Khan University. Her post graduate training includes a Residency in Internal Medicine, a Fellowship in Cardiology, and a master’s in clinical research, all completed at Duke University, Durham NC, United States.

Dr. Samad’s clinical and research efforts have been focused on understanding the epidemiology and outcomes of heart disease, and policy to implementation work to improve the cardiovascular health of communities. Her mentorship and educational efforts have been recognized with several awards.

An important aspect of her professional vision is to improve healthcare in Pakistan, with a special focus on women’s health, through data science, implementation research, and gender-inclusive training efforts that fully leverage available data resources and national and international collaborations.
