I am the British Council’s UK Alumni Ambassador for SDG 10 and independently advise organizations such Global Health Strategies, Partnerships for Impact and Obesity Innovation Lab on public health and policy. I aim to establish a public health advocacy forum focused on patient-centric issues in India. My expertise spans health, nutrition, sanitation, gender and public policy. Previously, I served as Director in the Office of the Vice Chairperson at NITI Aayog, the Indian government’s think tank. I am the only professional to have worked directly with all 3 Vice Chairpersons at NITI. My work has ranged from medical education reforms to the Indian government’s Covid-19 response. I have authored nearly 150 articles, book chapters and journal pieces and co-authored India’s first Voluntary National Review on Sustainable Development Goals presented at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in 2017. I hold a BSc in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the University of Birmingham, an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. I have also been awarded an honorary doctorate in public health. I am a trained dancer and work for the health and education of underprivileged children, as well as the rehabilitation of street animals, in my personal capacity. I am a Stage 4 ALK-positive lung cancer and depression survivor.
