2022 Leadership Journey Project: Rural MyThali: a Nutrition Tool for Rural Adolescent Girls

I have a diverse experience of 19 years across the social sector, education, media and entrepreneurship, enabling a skill set that includes fundraising, operations, communication, partnership management and advocacy. I started my career in media, that included producing TV programs and short films. My writings were published in Times of India, Deccan Herald, Gulf News and New York based Womens’eNews. The transition to the development sector started with working as a Communication Officer with Rotary International’s Pulse Polio Program. Subsequent experience included managing multiple states with teams working on projects funded by UNFPA, NACO and other established funders. My entrepreneurial journey started while working with Department of Science and Technology’s National Innovation Foundation, a body that creates an enabling environment to identify, support and promote grassroots’ entrepreneurs. I later founded a for-profit organization that focussed on building soft skills, reading and communication skills for children and professionals. It was selected in CIIE,Ahmedabad’s IdeaPad program. I ran it successfully for 4 years. As I had to move cities due to personal reasons, I had to roll it back. My last stint was heading Resource Mobilisation and Communication at ARMMAN, a non-profit working in maternal and child health. I was extremely fortunate to join ARMMAN in 2017, when it was a smaller organization, although with very strong programs and a bold, ambitious vision. Over the last 5 years, ARMMAN witnessed a tremendous growth journey where the scale and impact of the work grew exponentially. I was privileged to be a part of this journey, getting strong domestic and international funding partners along with creating national and global recognition for ARMMAN’s work. I have recently joined Arogya World as the Head, India (Growth & Strategy). Arogya World is a non-profit focussed on prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). I am excited about this opportunity because it allows me to build a robust organization with the potential to positively impact lives of millions faced with the challenges of NCDs. While Arogya World already has a significant reach with established programs, there is a huge potential to do more. It will also be a learning and growth journey for me in this new role.
