Sumitha Chalil is currently the National Consultant for Community Engagement with WHO India’s Technical Support Network for National TB Elimination Programme. She supports the National Programme for developing policies and interventions and implementing them for ensuring greater participation of the community, especially those affected by TB, in India’s mission to end TB. Prior to joining the network, Ms Sumitha Chalil had served in different capacities with National Health Mission and National AIDS control programme at national level from 2008 to 2019. Earlier to this, she worked with different government programmes from grassroot level to the State level in Kerala. Ms Chalil was a Hubert H Humphrey Fellow in HIV prevention and policy (a Fulbright programme by the State Department of USA) at Johns Hopkins University. She is also an active member of the Delhites’ National Initiative in Palliative Care, a voluntary organization dedicated to palliative care. Ms Chalil lives in Delhi.
