Stephanie Chow Garbern, MD, MPH, DTM&H, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Alpert Medical School (AMS) of Brown University. Dr. Garbern received her MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and DTM&H from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Her research is focused on leveraging novel technologies to improve the care of patients with sepsis and infectious diseases in resource-limited settings. She is the AMS Director of Student Research and Associate Director of the Brown Division of Global Emergency Medicine. She has previously served as the Co-Director of the Carolan Rwanda Research Fellowship. Dr. Garbern has held several leadership positions including as President-Elect and Co-Chair of the DEI and Decolonizing Global Health Committees of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA). Recent awards include the SAEM GEMA Academic Achievement Award and Brown EM Outstanding Young Investigator Award in 2023.
