2022 Leadership Journey Project: Strengthening Gender Equity in Health Financing Technical Assistance in Africa

Samantha Diamond is the Vice President for Health Systems Strengthening at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). In this role Samantha oversees work in integrated health systems strengthening, health workforce, health financing, digital health, and non-communicable diseases. CHAI has technical advisors working on these areas with Ministries of Health, Finance, and government insurance agencies.

Samantha transitioned to this role following the WomenLift Leadership Program. In her previous role leading health financing work at CHAI, she worked with policymakers to strengthen management systems, set priorities, secure and manage funding, design and implement public health insurance reforms, and improve efficiency and effectiveness in spending across the public and private sector.

Samantha has also served as a technical advisor to the Ministry of Health in Haiti, supporting strategic planning, coordination of development assistance, and monitoring and evaluation. She led work on a multi-country analysis of the cost and impact of HIV/AIDS treatment scale-up which informed policies on treatment eligibility and optimization in Eswatini, Malawi, and Zambia.

Samantha holds an MPH and BA from Yale University and is pursuing a doctorate of public health (DrPH) in international health systems at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
