Rena Greifinger leads the Experiential Philanthropy division at Population Services International and is Managing Director of the Maverick Collective by PSI. Founded in vision and partnership with Melinda Gates and the Crown Princess of Norway, Maverick Collective is a community of women philanthropists making catalytic investments in health and reproductive rights to elevate women and girls everywhere. By combining a venture capital mindset with principles of trust-based and feminist philanthropy, Maverick Collective is mobilizing more resources for women and girls, while igniting well-resourced women to be informed and strategic agents of change. Before taking the helm of Maverick Collective, Rena spent two years designing and launching the Collective’s fellowship program, Maverick Next, for young women beginning their philanthropic journey. As PSI’s Global Youth & Girls Advisor for five years, Rena led the organization’s work in design-thinking and private sector approaches to adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health. Prior to PSI, Rena started Next Step’s One Love Project, that builds leadership, life-skills and mentoring support for young people living with HIV in the U.S. Rena currently sits on the Board of Directors for Next Step and Mamatoto Village, a non-profit organization dedicated to perinatal support and careers for black women in Washington DC. She received the Sara’s Wish Foundation Global Humanitarian Award and Harvard’s Albert Schweitzer Award. She holds a Master of Science from the Harvard School of Public Health.
