Dr. Prerna Kumar is the Head of Public Policy at Convergent View Research & Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., where she leads a multidisciplinary team to execute large-scale research studies. In this role, she manages client relationships, provides guidance on institutional strategies, and drives business development efforts, fostering partnerships and contributing to growth initiatives.
Before this, Prerna was a Senior Technical Specialist at the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) from 2016 to 2023. She led projects focused on the economic and social empowerment of women and girls, collaborating with organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Gap Inc., and USAID. She also has experience managing donor relations, government partnerships, and corporate collaborations, and has provided thought leadership on women’s empowerment and gender justice.
Prerna has held various research roles at organizations such as BBC Media Action, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and consultant roles with international organizations like Clinton Health Access Initiative and Action Aid. These roles have equipped Prerna with a diverse skill set in designing and implementing research strategies and impact evaluations, particularly in the areas of public health, gender, and social development.
She holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, with a thesis on single migrant women in Mumbai, as well as an M.Phil. in Population Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and an M.A. in Social Work from Delhi University.
Prerna is passionate about Kathak, which she began learning a few years ago. She also enjoys dramatic readings of stories and pursues theater occasionally. Always eager to grow, Prerna actively seeks new opportunities for continuous learning.
