Nnennaya Kalu-Umeh is a Deputy Director and Technical Advisor to the CEO at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). With extensive experience in health, administration, project management, and capacity building, she is an accomplished healthcare leader with a robust portfolio of expertise and contributions to critical initiatives including Disability Inclusion in Health, and the NHIA Leadership Development Programme. A Project Management Professional, Nnennaya is also a trainer/facilitator certified by the International Finance Corporation and the Learning Performance Institute. She holds a first degree in Medicine and Surgery, and Master’s degrees in Public Health and Business Administration.
She is an alumnus of several courses by the World Bank and the World Health Organisation, the Dale Carnegie Advanced Women’s Leadership Programme, and the Aig-Imokhuede Public Leaders’ Programme, affiliated with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Governance. She is a member of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria and a Fellow/ adjunct faculty member at the Academy of Public Health. Nnennaya is passionate about social protection, improving access to health for vulnerable populations and mentoring the next generation of leaders.
