Dr Nilangi Sardeshpande (Public Health Researcher & Gender Equality Advocate)

Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Social Sciences from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, alongside an M.Sc. in Health Sciences, an M.Sc. in Yoga, and a Bachelor’s degree in Ayurveda. This multidisciplinary background informs her holistic approach to women’s health and gender equity.

Her research focuses on topics such as health inequities, adolescent health and hysterectomies among young women in rural Maharashtra. She brings a gender-transformative and intersectional approach to her work on SRHR. As a steering committee member for Equal Measures 2030 and the Feminist Policy Collective, she contributes to policy discourse on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has presented her work at several national and global forums, such as the Asia-Pacific Young Feminist Forum on Sustainable Development and the Community of Practitioners on Accountability and Social Action in Health conference.
