Growing up, I was taught to work hard, to contribute to community and always assume the best of people. This has shaped my approach to my career: contribute to a mission larger than myself and leave this world a better place than I found it. After high school, I lived in France where I met wonderful people, understood a different culture at a deep level and communicated in a language that was not my own. This fueled my interest in seeing more of the world in a way where I could truly connect with people. These two aspects of my youth guided me as I embarked on my studies and career. While in college and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, I began to learn about organizational development. I witnessed firsthand how the most well-intentioned organizations can struggle to implement life-changing projects if they do not have the right organizational and management structure. During my time in Morocco, I decided that I wanted to help organizations run well so we could work together towards a meaningful mission. At CHAI, my passion for learning from new people, helping the international community and running organizations well come together. During my tenure, I have been motivated by the amazing people that surround me and found a place where I can contribute strategically. I love taking what seems foreign (finances, operational processes) and distilling it so it’s more understandable to a larger community. I love working collaboratively, defining goals and helping teams work towards those goals in order to achieve something.
