Dr. Heather Marlow is a Senior Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor in the Center for Health Information, Monitoring and Evaluation in the international division at JSI.  Dr. Marlow has over twenty years of experience in global health monitoring, evaluation, and research.  Dr. Marlow currently leads research at JSI on self-injectable contraception, childhood immunization and gender in Ghana, and health worker use of an artificial intelligence application with rapid malaria diagnostic testing in Ethiopia. As a Senior Research Scientist in Youth and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) at the International Center for Research on Women, she led SRHR research in humanitarian settings, abortion research in Mali, and provided technical support to USAID’s Youth Power 2: Learning and Evaluation (YP2LE) project. Dr. Marlow previously worked at John’s Hopkins University Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, The Challenge Initiative (TCI), in monitoring, evaluation and research, at Mathematica Policy Research in international program evaluation, and at Ipas to improve the monitoring, evaluation and research of Ipas’ community-based reproductive health work in Africa, Asia and Latin America.  Dr. Marlow was a Fulbright Scholar in Honduras, worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in monitoring and evaluation for the Global AIDS program, and as the regional director for South America for Amigos de las Americas.  She has expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods and has worked on HIV, maternal and child health, family planning and safe-abortion services.  Dr. Marlow holds a Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MPH from Emory University, and speaks Spanish and basic Portuguese.
