2020 Leadership Journey Project: Case Comparisons of the Impact of Country Level Leadership on its Public Health and MNCH outcomes

Dr. Folake Olayinka is a medical doctor and seasoned global health specialist with 25 years of experience. She has expertise in routine immunization, polio eradication, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS and malaria programs. She has provided leadership, management and technical support to projects in Africa, United States, Caribbean, and Eastern Mediterranean region. 

She serves on several regional and global advisory groups including WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE). Dr. Olayinka worked with John Snow Inc (JSI) Virginia, USA for the past 5 years in various leadership roles including as the global Immunization  team leader on USAID’s global flagship project-Maternal Child Survival Program (MCSP) and as the global Project Director for MOMENTUM -Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (MRITE). In mid-October 2020, she accepted her latest leadership role as USAID’s Immunization team leader.

She brings a unique combination of adaptive management, strong technical expertise and deep understanding of country technical assistance needs and best practice MNCH/FP/RH approaches. Dr. Olayinka is exceptionally skilled through her firsthand work experience at community, country public and private sector and global levels. Dr. Olayinka is a professional with an inclusive style of leadership, an accomplished public speaker and writer. She is a rising global leader and has demonstrated capability to lead global teams, forge country engagement and build multi-partner relationships to make impact on global health.
