Faeezah Patel achieved her MBBCh degree at the University of Witwatersrand. She is a Senior Medical Officer within Wits RHI’s Maternal and Child Directorate and a Researcher at the Faculty of Health Science, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Faeezah’s work focusses on maternal and child health, notably optimizing treatment and vertical transmission prevention of HIV and other infectious diseases. Her clinical research as a Principal Investigator has contributed to WHO and local guideline adjustments and drug registration. Faeezah leads the Ubomi Buhle Pregnancy Exposure Registry, a health system strengthening and capacity building project, in the inner city of Johannesburg and is a collaborator with the South African National Department of Health (Maternal and Child Health).
Additionally, her passion for improving maternal and child health is proven by her publication record in peer-reviewed journals and her frequent appearance as a radio guest on a global medical talk show.
