Elsie Nzale Sang is a dedicated public health professional with over 15 years of experience in humanitarian and development services. With expertise in health and nutrition programming, she has led impactful initiatives in ASAL, urban and arid/semi-arid areas, focusing on strengthening healthcare systems and improving access to essential services for marginalized populations.
Currently Elsie is responsible for coordinating Integrated Eye (Cataract) Health project, developing and managing strategic partnerships to advance The Fred Hollows Foundation’s mission of eliminating avoidable blindness. She collaborates with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and private sector stakeholders to enhance eye health programs, mobilize resources, and advocate for sustainable health policies.
Before joining The Fred Hollows Foundation, Elsie spent over a decade at Save the Children International, where she managed urban health and nutrition programs, including digital health innovations, SRHR-family planning initiatives, and adolescent well-being projects. Her leadership in these areas has contributed to advancing gender equity, policy reforms, and improved health outcomes in Kenya.
A Gender Equity and Inclusion Champion at The Fred Hollows Foundation and an alumna of WomenLift Health’s East Africa Leadership Journey (2024-2025), Elsie is passionate about mentoring emerging health leaders. She has served as a panellist and contributor in global forums, including the Gender Summit 2022 and the Union for African Population Studies Research Fellowship.
Her commitment to public health is reflected in her numerous publications and leadership in strategic health initiatives across Africa.
