Dr. Olayemi Olupitan is the Project Director at the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria, for the Global Fund Grant Cycle-7 TB&HIV grant TB-HIV Reach, Integration & Impact Project (N-THRIP). This project is pivotal in transforming TB & HIV programs in Nigeria. The project aims to increase the identification of TB cases in the community and ensure access to high-quality, patient-centered prevention and treatment, through nationwide TB Public-Private Mix case finding and community TB testing.
Dr. Olupitan has had a distinguished career in public health, working in various roles at the Institute of Human Virology. She has served as a Program Associate at the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre (NTBLTCP), Program Officer for TB/HIV, Regional Medical Officer, Senior Program Officer, Acting Regional Manager in Lagos, Regional Manager in FCT, Project Director of the ACHIEVE Rivers State ART Surge Project, and Assistant Director at the PEPFAR Program Coordinating Unit. In these roles, she has led efforts in HIV and TB care, including program coordination, training, and implementation of health programs.
She studied Medicine at Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State, and holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Warwick, England. Dr. Olupitan is a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and has facilitated and participated in numerous training sessions and workshops in Nigeria and beyond.
Her research interests include HIV, TB, and COVID-19. Outside of work, Dr. She enjoys reading, networking, swimming, and traveling.
