Dr. (Mrs.) Maureen Umeakuewulu is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the National Hospital Abuja, with a subspecialty in Gynae-oncology. A Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOG), and the International College of Surgeons (FICS), she also holds an Advanced Diploma in Project Management and has completed professional training in Global Health from the University of Washington. Her research interests span women’s health, Gynae-oncology, and domestic violence.
In 2021, one of her articles received the IJGO Prize Paper Award for the best clinical-research article from a low- or middle-income country. She is a reviewer for several reputable journals including BMJ and BMC. Beyond her clinical and academic contributions, she serves as President of the Association of Catholic Medical and Dental Practitioners (FCT Chapter), President-Elect of MWAN-FCT, and is the founder of the Dona-Maureen Foundation.
