Her Excellency Dorcas Makgato serves as Botswana’s Ambassador to Australia and resides in Canberra. She is a former Minister of Trade and Industry in Botswana and a well-respected businesswoman who has worked in Southern Africa’s automotive industry and with Botswana’s national airline, Air Botswana. H.E. Dorcas Makgato was the CEO of the Botswana Export, Development and Investment Authority, a private-sector organization that works closely with the government to assist export-orientated enterprises. She used her role to overhaul the organization’s working structures and advance it to become one of Africa’s most admired investment promotion authorities.
She has successfully led and created women-specific organizations, such as Women in Sports Botswana and the BDP Woman’s League. She brings meaningful lived experience from her work in the private sector and diplomacy to the next generation of women leaders around the globe.
