Dr. Debarati Chakraborty, founder of Naturophilia Agrotech, is an alumna of Jadavpur University and University of Kalyani. She is an international biochar expert. Her work experience spans crop genetics, biochemistry, sustainable agricultura and soil health rejuvenation techniques and integrated farm management.
Her postdoctoral research at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) focused on novel AI-based mobile sensor prototypes through two international collaborations with Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and Hone.
Through Naturophilia, her vision is to utilise sustainable, low-carbon-emitting solutions to address urban and rural challenges using circular economic approaches. She has authored India’s first low-cost booklet on biochar to enhance public awareness. Her work includes multiple research articles and book chapters published on international, peer-reviewed platforms. Further, she is an editorial team member for Proceedings B Preprints of the Royal Society of Biology and an International Project Evaluation Expert at the Slovak Research and Development Agency. She is also a trained singer.
