Bryony Brookman-Eshun (Regional Newborn Focal Person, Ghana Health Service) is a public health professional and women’s health leader with 13 years of experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) within the Ghana Health Service. She currently serves at the regional level as a coordinator for newborn care, where she leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at reducing mortalities in the MNCH domain. Bryony has extensive expertise in health systems strengthening, policy implementation, quality improvement, and maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR). She has played a key role in translating national policies into actionable strategies at regional, district and subdistrict levels of care, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to improve outcomes for women and children. In addition to her public leadership, she contributes to capacity building as a part-time lecturer in paediatric nursing, mentoring the next generation of health professionals. Bryony is passionate about advancing equitable healthcare systems through research and empowering women leaders in global health. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time and creating memories with kids in special schools and at orphanages.
