Áuria Ribeiro Banze is the Director of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) in Mozambique and an experienced epidemiologist with a strong background in public health. Her expertise spans HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, emergency preparedness, and monitoring and evaluation systems. She has extensive experience applying data-driven approaches and field-based training to improve health outcomes among vulnerable populations.
Áuria has led and coordinated bio-behavioral surveys among key populations and played a central role in responding to major public health emergencies, including COVID-19, cholera outbreaks, and cyclone-related crises. She has supervised field investigations and provided mentorship to public health professionals and trainees in field epidemiology.
She holds a Master’s degree in Field and Laboratory Epidemiology from Eduardo Mondlane University and is currently pursuing a PhD in International Health at the University of New Lisbon, Portugal. Áuria has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on HIV prevention, outbreak response, and surveillance challenges in emergency settings.
