Leadership Journey Project: Leading Through Menopause: Evidence and Narratives from Women in Global Health
Joanna Skinner serves as the Head of Social & Behavior Change (SBC) and Inclusion at MSI Reproductive Choices, guiding global strategy and country implementation to strengthen gender-transformative and youth-responsive SBC across the organization. Her work focuses on translating evidence into practice to improve equitable access to high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services at scale.
Joanna brings 17 years of experience in public health and social development, with deep expertise in SRH and gender equality. She has led and managed complex, global SRH programs and contributed to thought leadership on SBC, overseeing the development of strategies, tools, and learning platforms that strengthen program quality across SRH, adolescent health, maternal, newborn and child health, and HIV/AIDS.
Previously, Joanna spent more than 15 years at the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, where she served as the organization’s first Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead. Earlier in her career, she worked with the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women and the United Nations Population Fund on gender equality, HIV, and youth-focused initiatives.
Joanna holds an MHS from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MA from Harvard University, and a BA from SOAS University of London.
