WomenLift Health Appoints Euloge Ishimwe as Director of Communications and Engagement

WomenLift Health is delighted to announce the appointment of Euloge Ishimwe as its new Director of Communications and Engagement. Euloge brings two decades of experience in strategic communications, with a focus on global health, humanitarian response, and international development.

He most recently served as Global Director of Communications at Living Goods, where he led a full digital transformation, including a complete website overhaul, tripled the size of his team, and launched a brand ambassador program to strengthen the organization’s visibility and value proposition.

Previously, Euloge served as Head of Communications for Africa at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), supporting 49 countries. During the 2019 Cyclone Idai crisis, he led IFRC’s Africa media response, generating over 9,000 media mentions in one week—the highest in IFRC history—mobilizing global attention and resources.

At SOS Children’s Villages, Euloge led communications across Africa and the Middle East and later in a global role, overseeing strategic transitions and building a continental communications structure that improved donor engagement and visibility.

In reflecting on his new role, Euloge expressed his support for WomenLift Health’s mission and the importance of advancing women’s leadership to improve health outcomes. As a communicator with a strong commitment to gender equity, he emphasized the urgent need to elevate women into leadership roles across health systems.

“I believe it will be difficult to meaningfully improve the quality of healthcare if women—who make up the majority of the global health workforce—remain underrepresented in leadership. Closing this gap is essential to building health systems that are inclusive, effective, and equitable.” He further underscored the importance of allyship in driving change. “Men have a crucial role to play in closing the gender leadership gap in healthcare. This is both a moral imperative and a strategic necessity for creating more effective health systems. Allyship is essential to shifting power and dismantling barriers that hold women back.”

Euloge has published op-eds in leading media outlets including Al Jazeera, Devex, Jeune Afrique, Le Monde, and Thomson Reuters, advocating for African perspectives on issues such as climate justice and health equity. He has managed large communications budgets and worked with partners such as GAVI, USAID, the Skoll Foundation, ECHO, AfDB, and the Mastercard Foundation, supporting donor-funded projects and change management efforts.

He holds a master’s in International Relations, a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Sociology, and a diploma in Electronic Journalism. Euloge is fluent in English, French, Kiswahili, and Kinyarwanda, and conversational in Portuguese, Lingala, and Zulu. He is passionate about advancing health equity, gender equality, and locally driven leadership in global health.
