Dr. Betty Mirembe K., Country Director , PATH Uganda

Dr. Betty is a medical doctor with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda and a Master of Business Administration from ESAMI, the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute. She has more than 20 years of experience in public health, 15 of which have been in program management, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, and early child development.

At PATH, she oversees the country’s program portfolio, which focuses on several health systems strengthening components and works to improve access to critical healthcare interventions, including tools to prevent and detect cancer, new contraceptive choices, and lifesaving vaccines. Dr. Mirembe also supports the country’s response to public health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to joining PATH, Dr. Mirembe was the Country Director at Mothers2Mothers (m2m) Uganda, and before that, she worked with the Clinton Health Access Initiative as the HIV Program Manager. In both of these roles, Dr. Mirembe led the design, implementation, and growth of its programs focused on sexual and reproductive health, adolescents, orphans, and vulnerable children (OVC), child protection, childhood disability, and early childhood development.

Dr. Mirembe is a married, full-time mother of four, and during her free time, she loves cooking and hosting people, occasionally, she also enjoys watching football
