Dr. Geeta confirmed as US Ambassador-at-Large Global Women’s Issues
It is very bittersweet to say farewell to our Board Chair, Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta as she takes on her new role as the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues at the U.S. Department of State. President Biden couldn’t have picked a better person for this critical role. Women around the world now have a powerful leader in their corner who will work tirelessly to advance their inclusion, empowerment and equality.
WomenLift Health has been privileged to have had Geeta serve as the Board Chair for the past four years. She has guided the inaugural Board with wisdom, humor and grace. She has also been a stalwart partner, mentor and friend to me personally as we have established and grown WomenLift Health in these early years. During this period and with Geeta’s support we have built an extraordinary global team committed to our feminist values of diversity, equity and inclusion as well as collaboration and learning. We have expanded to serve women in East Africa, South Asia and North America and have 240 women leaders who are graduates of, or currently in the Leadership Journey program. Geeta has been a mentor and will continue to be a role model for us and all these women who are also committed to using their leadership power to improve the lives of women and people everywhere.
Although we are sad to see Geeta step down as Chair the WomenLift Health Global Advisory Board, we are excited that she will be serving in a role that will benefit women around the world and through their empowerment, contribute to security, stability and economic growth. We know that investing in women improves the world.
