Duduzile Patience Simelane

Duduzile is a development professional with over 20 years of experience in the health sector, particularly on HIV, sexual and reproductive health. Duduzile is currently the Director for Social and Human Development Programs at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat. She works on health, nutrition, HIV and AIDS, education, skills development, employment and youth programs across 16 SADC countries. She has led and helped design policies as well as supported Member States in aligning with regional programs.  She has worked in other areas of development which include gender, youth and education /skills with organization such as International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), International HIV/AIDS Alliance (IHAA), Family Life Association of Eswatini (FLAS), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) among others. She is a skilled leader adept at coordinating and managing multiple teams and utilizing resources based on individual capability to achieve maximum productivity. She has extensive experience in project management, organizational development, within NGOs locally, regionally and internationally), UN as well as managing complex health programs, including HIV sexual and reproductive health. Some of her notable key achievements include:

  • Successfully led and developed the Family Life Association of Swaziland (FLAS), the IPPF Affiliate in Eswatini to achieve a thriving programme, within a complex and difficult operating environment.
  • Championed the integration of HIV into SRH, played a significant role in the integration of ART and male circumcision in SRH/FP services.
