Rumbidzai Ndungwani is a public health leader with over 18 years of experience spanning the public, private, and nonprofit sectors across Africa. With a background in Biomedical Sciences, she has built a cross functional career across vaccines, diagnostics, marketing, and business management, anchored in a commitment to advancing health equity at scale.
She works closely with national governments and ministries of health, alongside donors and global partners, to expand equitable access to diagnostics and strengthen resilient health systems. In her work, she bridges science, strategy, and implementation through a system-oriented perspective that connects scientific rigor with commercial and programmatic realities.
Her growing areas of focus include biosafety and biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance, and neglected priorities such as mental health which is critical to long term system resilience in low to medium income countries. Having lived and worked across East, West, and Southern Africa, she has a deep appreciation for the continent’s cultural diversity. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and exploring African cuisines.
