Patricia Mutale Kafweta

Patricia Mutale-Kafweta is a Public Health Specialist and Quality Assurance Manager within Zambia’s Ministry of Health, Pathology and Laboratory Services Unit. She leads national efforts to strengthen laboratory systems through the implementation of Quality Management Systems aligned with the ISO15189, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17043 and supports sustainable quality improvement through a national cadre of trained mentors. Patricia is spearheading the operationalization of equipment calibration centers to improve the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic testing nationwide. She also leads Zambia’s National Multi-Pathogen Diagnostic Program, strengthening integrated diagnostic capacity, patient-centered care, and infectious disease surveillance. In addition, she coordinates the National Microbiology Mentorship Program which strengthens laboratory capacity through standardized microbiology practices.

She holds a Master of Public Health degree and is passionate about building resilient and equitable diagnostic systems.

Beyond her professional work, she enjoys cooking, home decorating, and cherishing quality time with her family.
