Cecilia Akatukwas is a Public Health specialist with research interests in HIV and SRH specifically focusing on addressing SRH needs of youths.  She has  partaken research projects on evaluations of biomedical and behavior change interventions in communities to prevent HIV and other infectious diseases.

Cecilia is currently working under the Makerere University-UCSF Collaboration as a Qualitative Research Coordinator  and investigator in the infectious Diseases Research Collaboration. She has also worked in this collaboration as a Qualitative Research assistant. She has worked with Mbarara University of Science & Technology: Grants Office; (Global Health Collaborative) as a Research Assistant.

She is   currently pursuing a PhD at University of Ghent in collaboration with Mbarara University of Science & Technology. Her research project is focusing  on improving communication between caregivers and young adolescents on SRH using participatory approaches. She attained her Master of Public Health at Mbarara University of Science & Technology, Mbarara, Uganda; Post Graduate Diploma in Education at the Makerere University, and a Bachelor of Science [Biology- Psychology] at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.

Fun Fact: She loves travel and adventure and has a lot of places she still would love to visit.
