Dr. Nerges Mistry is a microbiologist and immunologist by training and the Director of the Foundation for Medical Research and the Foundation for Research in Community Health, Pune/Mumbai. Her work reflects a bio social approach focused on infectious disease and the environment as well as on developing frontline workers to tackle complex health issues such as non-communicable diseases (diabetes, hypertension and mental health) and maternal and child health in rural areas). Utilization of relevant pedagogy and an emphasis on quality of care are cross cutting themes of the upskilling provided to the health workers.
Dr. Mistry has over 99 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several media articles and has been a principal investigator of over 30 major projects. She was appointed as a Member of the ASHA Mentoring group in National Rural Health Mission and is also a member of the Expert Group housed under the Global Coalition Against Tuberculosis, New Delhi.
