Dr. Lindsey Shields is a board-certified preventive medicine veterinarian with over 14 years of experience advancing global health security through infectious disease surveillance, outbreak response, and One Health approaches. She currently serves as the Deputy Director for Epidemic Preparedness and Response at PATH, providing strategic and technical leadership across a portfolio of global projects supported by the U.S. government, the Gates Foundation, and KfW. Dr. Shields has led and supported responses to major outbreaks, including Ebola, cholera, and COVID-19, through her roles with the U.S. CDC, the United Nations, and the Smithsonian Institution. Her career has focused on building resilient systems for disease detection and translating data into action across diverse settings. Dr. Shields holds a DVM from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on epidemiology and zoonotic disease.
