2023 Leadership Journey Project: Improving Gender Equity and Health Literacy Among Nigerian Adolescents with an Emphasis on Sexual Abuse
Evonemo Esievoadje has over 15 years of experience advocating for the health and rights of women and girls. With a background in Family Medicine, and coming from a family with 7 daughters, she has a keen understanding of the norms and social determinants of health that place women and girls in vulnerable positions, undermine their health and promote inequity in the society. She currently serves in various positions: the Social Accountability Co-Lead for the Family Medicine Residents’ Association of Toronto, the Medical Women’s International Association Young Doctors’ Committee and the Assistant Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Journal of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria. She served as the National Coordinator of the Young Doctors’ Forum of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, from 2019 – 2021, a position which gave her definite opportunities and resources to advocate for women and children.
