Dr. April J. Bell is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and Founder of Girlx Lab. Her research focuses on the sexual and reproductive health of Black adolescent women and girls, with attention to reproductive justice, digital storytelling, and the impact of misinformation on reproductive decision-making. She has international experience leading research in sub-Saharan Africa and held leadership positions at the CDC and AMPATH in Kenya, contributing to global maternal, HIV, and adolescent health programs.
Dr. Bell serves on the Executive Board of the Healthy Teen Network. She earned a BA in Human Biology with Honors from Stanford University, an MPH from Indiana University School of Medicine, and a PhD in Epidemiology from Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington.
