Dr. Alicia E. Genisca is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Brown University in Providence, RI. She completed her pediatrics training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and her pediatric emergency medicine training at Texas Children’s Hospital. She has worked clinically in Dominican Republic, Botswana, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Colombia, and the Northern Marianas Island. She is a trainer for the World Health Organization’s Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT) as well as a Master Trainer for the Basic Emergency Care (BEC) course. Dr. Genisca has been engaged in improving emergency care, including pediatric emergency care, in Belize and Nepal through educational initiatives for healthcare providers. She currently works on the use mHealth tools for pediatric sepsis in Bangladesh. Her academic interests include capacity building through healthcare education in low- & middle-income countries and point-of-care ultrasound. Additionally, she is involved in projects to improve diversity in healthcare careers.
