Lakshmi Gopalakrishnan

Dr. Lakshmi Gopalakrishnan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Global Health Sciences at UCSF. She is trained as a population and behavioral health scientist. She conducts quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research in the field of women’s health. With a multicultural background rooted in India, she brings over 17 years of experience in international work spanning multiple countries, including Nepal, Pakistan, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, and the Philippines. Her current research program is focused on the intersection of gender and household/dyadic relationships to address modifiable social determinants of women’s health across diverse populations. In her research portfolio, she has multiple projects, including one that tests a household-level intervention to address family planning uptake in India, as well as two couple-based interventions to improve communication around family planning and perinatal depression.
